What we have built here
The Gables is single-family territory, and the work reflects it: kitchens opening onto a garden, laundry and pantry cabinetry, built-in storage and closets. The kitchen above, on a Loretto Avenue renovation, is matte grey and white with a stone island, replacing a dark galley layout.
A good share of this work comes through contractors and designers we build for repeatedly. They send drawings; we return dimensioned shop drawings and a number off the cut list.
Building in a Mediterranean-revival house
- Old houses, modern cabinetry. Plaster walls, arched openings and barrel-tile roofs mean irregular dimensions. Frameless cabinetry with scribed fillers sits cleanly against walls that are anything but straight.
- Historic review. Exterior changes in parts of the Gables need city approval. Interior cabinetry generally does not, but the schedule still bends around the permits the rest of the renovation needs.
- Matching what stays. Original doors, mouldings and floors are often kept. We pick finishes that live alongside them rather than fighting them.
